Forgotten God

The Holy Spirit – who he is

1. The Holy Spirit is a PERSON.

He is not an indistinct “power” or “force” or “thing”

John 14:17, Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14


2. The Holy Spirit is GOD.

In the New Testament, the words spirit and God are used interchangeably

Acts 5:3-4


3. The Holy Spirit is ETERNAL and HOLY.

Jesus promised His disciples that the Spirit would be with them forever

John 14:16; Hebrews 9:14; Romans 1:4; Romans 5:5


4. The Holy Spirit has His own mind and He prays for us.

The Spirit of God prays for us according to the will of God

Romans 8:26-27


5. The Holy Spirit has emotions.

We are not to grieve the Holy Spirit

Isaiah 63:10; Ephesians 4:30


6. The Holy Spirit has His own desires and will.

The Spirit has a plan for each of us and for the church including our individual church body and the worldwide body of Christ.

7. The Holy Spirit is omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient.

The Spirit is all-powerful, present everywhere and all-knowing.

1. He helps us when we don’t know what to say, or how to pray.

2. He teaches us, advises us, encourages us, strengthens us and guides us.

3. He empowers us to be a witness for Jesus.

4. He convicts us of sin.

5. He frees us from the power of sin.

6. He leads us out of slavery and into relationship.

9. He empowers us with supernatural gifts.

10. He produces amazing fruit through us.

11. He is our “connection” to God.
