Both Covid-19 and the quarantine have presented some real challenges for all of us.  As a church we are trying to be flexible and we are constantly looking for the safest and best way to carry out our mission of reaching, teaching and helping people in Jesus’ name.  That’s meant a lot of changes for everyone.  As long as we are striving to do all that we can to be the best that we can for the kingdom – I’m sure we’ll keep making changes in this ever-changing environment.  It is amazing to be a part of a church with the attitude CBCB has.  Even though every week, it seems like there’s a new rule or process – everyone just keeps right on loving each other and worshipping Jesus.  We’ve prayed for love and unity to rule since this thing started and that prayer has continually been answered.  So, thanks for your patience, your flexibility and your commitment to not let “the little stuff” destroy us, silence us, divide us, discourage us or defeat us.  As far as the big stuff:  Jesus is being worshipped! His word is being preached!  His work is being carried out!  We are actually reaching, teaching and helping more people in Jesus’ name than ever before.  SO – take that Covid-19!  Take that gates of hell!

Anyway – this week there are more fun changes.  We will still be asking everyone to wear a mask, practice social distancing and try to get in and out quickly without too much grouping together and breathing on each other.  Also, I’ve been convicted about my own small groups – the restrictions we have in church services should apply to all CBCB on campus get-togethers – so in our on-campus lifegroups – please remember no food, wear masks, and try to keep social distancing.  Also, we are going to try something different with service times for a while:

WE WILL HAVE ONE SERVICE – SUNDAY AT 10:00am
(Click here to save your seat)

We will stream live at mycbcb.com at that same time.  You can also catch the replay at mycbcb.com/messages within an hour of so of the end of the service, and it will be there all week.  So, if you do have to miss a service, you can catch it at night, on your lunch break, or whenever it’s convenient.

One service will really help with the safety and workload of volunteers and staff – especially with all the disinfecting and cleaning that has to be done in-between services.  Thank you again for your endless patience and for rolling with the changes.

Who knows what next week will be like?!  One thing I know – the church of Jesus Christ will not be held back.  For 2000 years, persecution and opposition have only caused the church to grow!  In Jesus’ name – that trend is not going to stop in OUR generation!  We’ll meet in person, online, in masks, doused with bleach, inside, outside, upside-down, through glass, underwater or whatever it takes.

This coming Sunday, July 5th we will be having CommunionIf you will be worshipping with us “at home”, get your Communion elements ready so you can join with us in remembering what Jesus did for us on the cross.

As you may know, our lifegroups are now also able to meet in person – even on campus.  Maybe it’s time for you to reconnect with your group.  If you’re going to be using a room at church, get in touch with Dana at aa@mycbcb.com or call her at (830) 228-5654 to let her know which room you would like to meet in and then contact Shane Aldrich, our Life Groups Coordinator, at lifegroups@mycbcb.com to let him know what your group is planning.

We have some exciting news for our Elementary students!!!  Miss Liz is starting a summer bible study just for your elementary-age kiddos.  Beginning this week, every Monday at 11:00am Miss Liz will host a Zoom call that will be both fun and interactive.  She will be sending parents a link to join.  IF you did not receive a notice regarding the link, please email Miss Andrea at kids@mycbcb.com.  Don’t forget to check out the “mycbcb Kids Facebook” page for fun ideas to help keep your children entertained while also pointing them to Jesus.

Ladies!  It’s not too late to be a part of the virtual summer book club – they are reading the Jen Wilkin book “None Like Him:  10 Ways God Is Different from Us (and Why That’s a Good Thing).  It’s super easy to participate – just get a copy of the book, begin reading and watch for their discussion posts on the MyCBCB Women’s Facebook each Friday.

MYCBCB is hosting a Blood drive, Sunday, July 26th from 8:00am to 1:00pm in Portable-3.  In a community like ours, every single person matters – including you.  A warrior fighting cancer, an unsuspecting Texan involved in an accident and so many more patients rely on a healthy blood supply for life support.  RIGHT NOW, THAT SUPPLY IS LOW…. without blood on the shelves, patients in our community and all across South Texas won’t have the blood they need to survive.  As a thank you for signing up to donate blood, the South Texas Blood & Tissue Center will test all blood donations for the antibody to Covid-19.  The test is free and the results will be mailed to you within 14 days.  Also, with your donation of blood, you will be entered into a drawing for a two-year lease on a new 2020 Ford Mustang and your choice of a thank you eGift card from hundreds of options like Amazon, Grubhub and many more!  We will follow social distancing guidelines; all staff and donors will be required to wear masks and any donor who does not have a mask will be offered one. These donations are made by appointment only…If you’re interested in signing up (click here).
