Our brothers and sisters around the state are carrying a huge burden right now. Storm damage, flooding, loss and fear are overwhelming people.
CBCB’ers are working hard to serve as many as we can as well as we can in Jesus’ name. Here are some ideas on how to help THERE, IN SAN ANTONIO, and FROM HERE.
THERE – you can’t beat www.samaritanspurse.org . You can GIVE in a couple of clicks, you can GO in a couple of days. If you go, they’ll provide a plan, a place to sleep, first aid, and a sandwich every day. You will almost CERTAINLY make a bigger difference if you work with an organization that does this stuff well.
IN SAN ANTONIO – there are lots of refugees coming in. www.redcross.org is a great place to get connected to ways to serve them. It’s a little cumbersome to work through the website, and process – but it is SO worth it. Keep an eye on social media, and the news for other opportunities to serve, give clothes, help, etc.
FROM HERE – for us, as a church to be as EFFECTIVE as possible means we need to SPECIALIZE. We have a goal to send 3500 cases of water, and as many diapers as will fit in a semi to Corpus Christi. We are partnering with Church Unlimited – an awesome church with campuses in many of the areas hit hardest (like Rockport). Here’s how its going to work:
There are LOTS of other ways to help. If you know of a great one, please post it on www.facebook.com/myCBCB.
Most importantly, let’s pray. There are many innocents suffering, and there are many heroes in harm’s way. Let’s lift them up to the Lord every day. He is our source, and strength and comfort and provider, and protector. As we pray, let’s listen to the Holy Spirit about what he’s calling each of us to do to be his hands and feet.
I am honored to serve in such an amazing church.
Blessings and much love,
