Hey CBCB,

Have you ever prayed a dangerous prayer?  Like you’ve prayed for patience, and God sent you things to test your patience – and you asked yourself, “why did I pray that?”  Or you prayed for faith, and God put you in a place where you had nothing left but faith.  Again you asked, “why did I pray that?”.  Maybe you prayed God would point out any sin in your life, and he did.  “Oh great, now I gotta stop – why did I pray that?!”

A couple of years ago I prayed a dangerous prayer.  That God would break our hearts for what breaks his, and open our eyes to the lost, hurting, broken people around us.
He’s answered that prayer over and over.  He’s shown us broken, lost, & hurting people all around us, and he’s empowered us to reach, teach and help them in Jesus’ name.  Our outreach wall in the lobby lists some examples   (see attached picture)

God has broken my heart for the people of Kenya.  He’s shown me what poverty looks like, he’s opened my eyes to people who struggle with things we can’t even imagine. Can YOU imagine: walking 4 miles a day to carry home water for your family (that isn’t safe to drink)?  Can you imagine children dying in their parent’s arms because they just don’t have food, or safe water to drink?  Can you imagine working your tail off for $2/day, and then trying to feed your family?  God has blessed us with wealth that the people of Kenya can’t imagine.  At least some of that blessing should be reinvested for maximum kingdom ROI.

This weekend you will get a chance to change life of a child, the future of a community, and the legacy of your family and church. Im praying that you will come, and that God will break your heart, open your eyes and empower you to become a world-changer.  If you want to teach your kids what compassion and love look like, this is your chance.

200 years from now, no one will remember what songs we sing this weekend.  No one will remember my sermon.  But the world can be changed, different & better because you chose to say yes to Jesus, by saying yes to the least of these – his brothers & sisters.
I can’t wait to see how God is going to change the world through you this weekend at CBCB.

Blessings,
Larry
