It really is the most wonderful time of the year! We celebrate the coming of our savior, and we do it with people we love, and songs we love and food we love, and the traditions we love. Just like YOUR family has traditions, your CBCB family has great traditions too – but they’re no fun without YOU.. Here are some of our favorite CBCB Christmas traditions that you can be a part of:
Christmas PJ party! It’s sponsored by our kid’s department, but it’s for everyone. Right after church SATURDAY Dec 1, we’ll all get together for music and mahem! Cookie decorating, food, games, prizes – and we’ll do it in our jammies! Yes, really – you can wear your warm, cozy, APPROPRIATE pajamas to church Saturday. This is a great tradition to establish with your family, and it’s a GREAT time to invite friends to church!
Outreach to folks suffering from homelessness. In case you haven’t heard, we had hoped to give away 400 sleeping bags this year, but because of YOUR faithfulness and love – we are giving away 700 instead! We’ll also be providing 500 little backpacks filled with toothbrushes, shampoo, razors, a pair of gloves, a shirt, etc to our neighbors who don’t have a home.
Christmas eve communion service. This year Christmas eve falls on a Monday. We are trying to offer something for everyone, so here’s our schedule/plan: The weekend of 12/22-12/23 we will have ONE BIG service Sunday at 10:00 a.m. (so no service on Saturday) It will be great for some of us to see friends we haven’t seen in a while, who normally go to a different service than we do. Then on Monday (Christmas eve) we’ll have our communion services at 2:30, 4:00, 5:30. It will be pretty full, and kinda dark – so for this service you’ll want to be IN THE SANCTUARY a few minutes BEFORE start time.
Personalized stockings for our friends at St Jude’s Kids Ranch We have a personalized stocking for every kid at St Jude’s. You can pick one up this weekend, fill it with goodies and bring it back next weekend to be given to a kid/teenager in Jesus’s name from their “family” at CBCB. For many of these kids – this is the ONLY thing they’ll get this year that is unique, special & specific for THEM!
Meagan & Claudia will be leading an “intro to ASL” sign language class on Saturday, Dec 15 at 10:00-11:00 am in Portable #1 (P1) for all ages. You don’t need to bring anything except your hands. We are looking at adding an ongoing class to learn ASL in January! I LOVE our deaf & Hard of Hearing ministry, and YOU can be a part of it – by helping us spread the word, and by learning a couple of greetings to welcome our deaf and hard of hearing friends to CBCB!
