Community Bible Church in Bulverde began in October, 2006, as a “satellite” church plant of Community Bible Church in San Antonio. Our initial services were held in a tent behind the Loft coffee shop, on Highway 281. The initial few months of our history were characterized by….cold. The side flaps of the tent would blow up in the wind. A resident cat would take to the stage during the sermon to demonstrate thorough grooming techniques. The 20 to 30 people who attended always had something to laugh about.
Rapid growth soon changed the venue, but not the spirit. In early 2007, God provided an even better location in the Crossroads Building, located next to the old EMS station across the highway. With 50-75 regular attendees, we pitched in to clean, paint, install baseboard, vacuum, and set up chairs. Over the next two years, we grew to two services and a committed group of believers.
Again, bursting at the seams and with a finite lease, we began searching for property to purchase and build a new church. After some frustratingly close disappointments, God opened the door to a property located at 7100 Hwy 281 North in Spring Branch. We moved into a brand-new building in October 2009. With the support and encouragement from our friends at CBC in San Antonio, CBCB incorporated as an independent church in 2010.
The locations have changed, and some of our methods have changed. Our mission has not changed: to reach, teach and help people in Jesus’s name. On Saturdays and Sundays, we celebrate Jesus together, hear the Word, and love each other in the main congregations. Throughout the week we meet in smaller life groups to deepen our relationships with God and with each other.
Our sermons are Bible-centered and easy to understand, designed to apply to your life, NOW. Worship is usually contemporary, always real, and always lifting up the name of Jesus. Children’s programs are fun, safe, and really help kids know Jesus. For teens, “Inside/Out” is a dynamic, fun ministry, where everyone matters and Jesus is Lord.
If you’ve been visiting CBCB for awhile and would like to become more active, consider membership. Membership at CBCB isn’t scary or complicated. It’s simple, really.
At myCBCB, a member is someone who has committed to do four things:
Four times a year, we throw a Connection 101 Luncheon after church. Here, we provide lunch and fill you in on the church’s history, vision, and ministries. You’ll get to meet quite a few of our leaders and get a feel for who we are. There is no obligation and it’s an easy way to see if membership at CBCB is right for you.
Contact myCBCB's Office to find out when the next Connection Party is coming up, or check out our events page.
CBCB (Community Bible Church Bulverde) uses CCB (Church Community Builder) as our Church Management Software system of choice. This web-based application is open to all members of the church to sign up for an account, and it's the primary method for members to engage with each other as well as the leadership of the church. Because CCB is cloud/web-based, users can use it on computers running most web browsers such as Chrome, Safari, Edge, Explorer and Firefox. There's no need to install a separate application to have access. Just login from the church website.
Members of the church can request a CCB account by clicking on the 'login' button at the top of each page. If no account has been previously set up, users can set up their account. If not signed up prior to attending a Connection 101 session, members are prompted to fill out a Connection Card and an account will be set up for each member at this time.
Baptism is an important act of obedience for every believer and identifies you with Jesus Christ. Baptism doesn’t make you a believer—it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not “save” you, only your faith in Christ does that.
At Community Bible Church, we practice tithing for the support of Christ’s body, the church, in obedience to God’s Word. We recognize that giving 10% of our income is a Biblical principle that honors God and requires faith in God as our financial provider. (Proverbs 3:9; Malachi 3:10; Matthew 23:23)
Giving to the church is easy—members and guests can donate securely online using Pushpay® or through the MyCBCB app for iOS or Android. For giving through the site, just click on the 'give' link at the top of each page or look for the Pushpay® button on the bottom of each page in the footer. This link will guide you to our church's Pushpay® giving portal where users can give anonymously, or set up an account. Members and guests can also tithe by check either on-site or by mailing to the church office.
Using the app is the easiest way to give, as users can bypass the need to regularly login. If you already have an account with Pushpay®, you can use the same login credentials used for the Pushpay® web-browser portal. If you don't have an account, Pushpay® will generate one for you and tie your device to the account for easy-giving. Just follow the prompts to easily set up your Pushpay® account.
Please note that your Pushpay® account is independent of your CCB login. While you could use the same email and password information, it's suggested to use a different password for various accounts. With the MyCBCB app, Pushpay® will tie your device to your account (once verified), and it should allow you to easily give using the link from within the app without the need to repeatedly log back in, or at least until you instruct Pushpay® to forget your device.
